PlastiCredits: An Innovative Approach to Combating Global Plastic Pollution
In 2021, around 391 million tonnes of plastic were produced worldwide. About 12% of global waste consists of plastic. When plastics enter the environment, they never fully break down. Instead, they break down into tiny particles and fibers known as microplastics, which pose a serious threat to fish, birds, other land animals, and humans themselves. Larger pieces of plastic can transport invasive species and accumulate in freshwater and coastal environments, thereby altering ecosystem functions. How can PlastiCredits tackle this problem?

On October 17th every year, the "International Day for the Eradication of Poverty" is observed worldwide. This day reminds us that despite the progress our societies have made, poverty is still a global challenge. Donate transparently: The charity shop for projects close to your heart
More and more people want to combine their shopping with a good cause while supporting projects that are close to their hearts. We are also observing this trend among our members and donors. Our charity shop addresses these needs precisely by enabling direct and targeted support for concrete projects. Furthermore, this creates greater transparency and expands donation options.
Boldly into the Future: Shakti Yadav's TEDx Talk on Buy Food with Plastic India
The concept behind Buy Food with Plastic is simple yet effective: we exchange 20 plastic bottles for a hot meal. This idea was often ridiculed, but it has proven to be a great way to tackle two global problems at once: hunger and plastic pollution. Bhandup, India - Where Poverty and Prosperity Meet: A Field Report
Our activities in India were at risk last year. Donations were not enough to continue. When our supporter Salomé Handschin learned about this, she immediately offered to help us. 2022: A year full of highlights and a fundraising record!
2022 was truly an incredible year for Buy Food with Plastic, with countless highlights! There were also a few lows. Nevertheless, we achieved a great deal with a record-breaking donation and helped many people. The launch of the World Changing Campaign 2.0 was particularly successful, allowing us to hit the ground running in 2023.
