Support through yoga - Meet Teresa!

Support for Buy Food with Plastic takes many forms. Some work directly with the team, others donate money, and yet others use their passion for sports. Peter Bolliger cycled, Maron ran, and Teresa teaches yoga. Peter and Maron shared their story. Teresa expressed her wish to do the same in person:

While looking for volunteer work, I came across Buy Food with Plastic, a wonderful project with a major impact that fascinated me immediately. I knew right away that I wanted to get involved with this organization.

The unique concept inspired me from the very beginning because it addresses several urgent problems in our world at once. With their project, they help tackle plastic pollution by giving plastic value. It allows people living in poverty to receive a warm meal in exchange for plastic bottles. The plastic collected in this way is recycled or upcycled, creating new, useful products that can be reused. At the same time, they combat extreme poverty, raise awareness, and train local people, create jobs, and enable them to tackle their problems sustainably and independently.

To support the project effectively, I started "Charity Yoga by Teresa" in the spring of 2023. In a small, light-filled yoga studio in Lucerne, I found a beautiful place of peace and inspiration. "Yoga by Stéphie" provides me with the yoga studio and the infrastructure for the charity yoga free of charge. I am very grateful for this. All proceeds from my yoga classes go to «buy food with Plastic». Week after week, this supported a recycler in Nicaragua, giving her the opportunity to provide for not only herself but also her family. It gives me great joy and satisfaction to know that I can make the world a little better through my passion.

I hope that my story will inspire other yoga teachers to do yoga in the spirit of Karma Yoga (selfless service) and make a positive difference!Perhaps you too will be inspired by these wonderful people at BFWP and their innovative, unique project, and make a contribution with your yoga classes according to your means.”

Teresa has created something wonderful: She connects people in Lucerne with a small recycling station in Nicaragua. Her yoga classes are not only a source of inspiration for the soul but also a bridge between two worlds – driven by the knowledge that every contribution counts.

If you would like to meet Teresa and are excited about her Charity Yoga Class, then sign up for a class and write to us about how it was.

For just CHF 2, you can also provide a person in India, Nicaragua, or Ghana with a warm, nutritious meal.
