Peter Bolliger raises CHF 67,000 in donations

Peter Bolliger is an adventurer who shares his experiences in video format on social media. Peter encountered Buy Food with Plastic earlier.

When we moved into the Charity Gallery, the room was still under construction. We had no water, no electricity, and the walls were bare and grey. Anna and Khalil remembered a former schoolmate who currently ran a paint shop. They contacted him, and he, Daniel Galantucci and the company founder of the Hampel Gruppe, Ramon Hampel visited the Charity Gallery. In the following weeks, they painted the walls of the Charity Gallery white without asking for payment. Ramon didn't stop there, though. A few weeks later, Anna, Khalil, Ramon and Peter sat together in a video call. Peter was a video producer at the time, creating videos for companies. Among other things, he filmed a video for the Hampel Gruppe, and now Ramon Hampel commissioned a professional video about Buy Food with Plastic.

This is how Peter visited the Charity Gallery for a day of filming. Khalil, Anna and Peter hit it off immediately. Like Ramon, Peter was also enthusiastic about Buy Food with Plastic's work. Hisfirst video with us can be found on our YouTube channel, along with other videos created by Peter. This is the video in question:

Today, he mainly produces inspiring videos in which he stands in front of the camera himself to encourage people to make the impossible possible. With authentic stories, personal challenges and motivating messages, he shows that boundaries often only exist in our minds. At the same time, he has never lost sight of what is essential and remains committed to Buy Food with Plastic to drive sustainable change.

In 2023, he started a very special challenge. His goal? To carry the mission of "Buy Food with Plastic" into people's hearts and raise 20,000 Swiss francs in donations through a Switzerland-wide bike challenge. Every day, he captured his experiences on camera and turned them into short, exciting videos that he shared with his community on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.

In just 20 days, Peter cycled to every cantonal capital, and for a large donation of 1,000 Swiss francs, he was willing to go without modern navigation for a day. He even went so far as to adjust his route for a donation of 10,000 so that he could thank the person in person - even if this meant having to cycle everything back. However, he was spared this sacrifice.

"An opportunity begins with a warm meal," Peter told the people who followed him. "But one in five people in the world lives in poverty, while 8 million tons of plastic end up in the sea every year. I support Buy Food with Plastic to change this."

With this clear message, he won the hearts of over 1,600 people who came together to support him. Within a week, the donation goal of 20,000 Swiss francs was reached, which is why a new donation goal of 50,000 was set. Many donated only 2 francs, small amounts that added up to a large goal. In the end, Peter's bike challenge brought in a proud 67,000 CHF – enough to secure hundreds of meals for the needy in disadvantaged regions while also tackling the plastic problem.

His ride became more than just an athletic achievement. It showed how powerful the force of community can be when many come together to bring about change. Because, as Peter said: "Together we can enable access to food and recycling and thus change lives."
