This is where it all began: in 2018, the idea of exchanging plastic bottles for warm meals was born in the Rivas region. Today, we organize the events in seven communities.
The Program at a Glance
Every month, we organize events in remote communities in Nicaragua, Ghana and India. There, people exchange plastic bottles and drink pouches for warm meals.
The events promote responsible handling of plastic, raise environmental awareness and contribute to better waste management and local jobs.

Event in the community
Our local team regularly organizes events in remote communities.

Bring plastic
People bring plastic bottles and drink pouches (sachets). On average, that is about 28 bottles and 31 pouches per person.

A warm meal
In return, they receive a warm meal. The collected plastic is processed further on site.

In the slums of Mumbai, people have been exchanging plastic bottles for food since 2020. The concept came about at the request of Shakti Yadav, who wanted to implement it in his community.
Ghana

In the Elmina region, people exchange plastic bottles and plastic bags (pure water sachets, a major problem in Ghana) for meals.
