Change lives & recycle!

In the podcast, you'll learn everything important about the truck project.

How will the project become self-sustaining?

Immediate and long-term effects

Location: Elmina, Ghana
Beneficiaries: 34,000 people
Vehicle: 6-ton truck

As soon as the truck project collects 346,000 bottles per month, the revenue will cover the direct costs. We expect the project to be self-sustaining within 6 months. The revenue from the first six months will be used as a reserve for unforeseen circumstances and for local communication. The truck will be in operation six days a week. By buying back the plastic bottles, we increase the income of the local people. On average, the people in need live on approximately CHF 0.50 per day.

The video directly below explains exactly where and how the project works.

Our Principles

Entrepreneurship as a Catalyst: The most effective way to reduce poverty and plastic pollution is through entrepreneurship. By empowering people to start sustainable businesses, we can drive innovation, create jobs, and develop scalable solutions that address these global challenges.

Prioritizing Waste Management Infrastructure: Ocean cleanups are premature as long as a large part of humanity lacks access to basic waste management systems. Building a comprehensive waste management system is essential; without it, ocean cleanups will remain ineffective, as the root cause—unmanaged waste—will persist.

The Campaign Instigator

Nico Vogt from Mach dis Ding GmbH

Nico Vogt, 32 years old and from Mandach in Aargau, has been an entrepreneur since 2013. He lives for sports, nature and his family, with two children. In 2022, he and his family decided to live as digital nomads and bought a caravan for that purpose.

Nico started the podcast "Mach-dis-Ding.ch" in 2020 to motivate people in Switzerland to follow their own path, especially those who are not completely satisfied with their lives and work (by the way, he is one of the most successful podcasters in Switzerland). He wants to share stories of people who have taken the leap into entrepreneurship, as he firmly believes that it is the best way of life.

Now, after many years as an entrepreneur, he feels the need to give back and help thousands of people. Buy Food with Plastic is grateful that he chose the entrepreneurial truck project in Ghana.
