A look behind the scenes: the sorting facility of Schneider Umweltservice AG

On Friday, June 7, 2024, the Swiss team from Buy Food with Plastic had the special opportunity to visit the innovative sorting facility of our partner Schneider Umweltservice in Volketswil.

This fascinating tour not only gave us deeper insights into plastic recycling but also provided us with numerous ideas on how we can expand recycling infrastructures in our developing countries. We were able to see firsthand how the innovative sorting facility sorts various valuable materials such as wood, paper, cardboard, and metal. In this way, tons of waste can be recycled instead of burned.

We were particularly impressed by the daily commitment and valuable work of Schneider Umweltservice in tackling the recycling problem in Switzerland.

It was a special opportunity to discuss plastic pollution and the global plastic problem with the Swiss specialists.

Schneider Umweltservice supports Buy Food with Plastic Nicaragua

Since early 2024, Schneider Umweltservice AG has been actively supporting Buy Food with Plastic Nicaragua with a financial contribution over the next five years. This collaboration enables the expansion of a sustainable local recycling infrastructure. This not only contributes to solving the plastic waste problem but also promotes awareness in the communities. Together, we are crossing the borders of Switzerland and ensuring that people living in extreme poverty in Nicaragua also have access to disposal options and educational initiatives on plastic waste.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the team at Schneider Umweltservice. We look forward to our joint partnership – for the sake of the future!
