Terms of purchase:

1. Plastic collection in kilograms

Refers to plastic waste collected from local communities.

Buy Food with Plastic ensures that the collected plastic waste is properly recycled. In our own workshops in Nicaragua, Ghana and India, we process HDPE and PP plastics into useful products – with the aim of promoting local entrepreneurship and establishing a circular economy. PET plastics are sold to local partners for recycling. At the same time, we raise awareness of environmental problems such as plastic pollution through educational workshops and community events, and create much-needed local jobs.

Sources of the plastic
The plastic is collected in three ways: through permanently installed collection points, a mobile collection tour with our community truck, and special educational community events. This allows us to reach three target groups:

  1. People on low incomes, who receive a meal, refill shampoo/cleaning products or a small sum of money for the plastic they collect.

  2. Local residents, who hand over their plastic waste to us free of charge via collection containers.

  3. Local businesses – mainly hotels and restaurants – that regularly commission us to collect their plastic waste.

Our goal is to end the careless dumping of plastic and instead promote collection directly in households and businesses.

2. Contract term & confirmation
This contract is valid from the date of purchase until full delivery. Buy Food with Plastic currently processes a total of around 1,850 kilograms of plastic per month, i.e. 22,200 kilograms a year, in Nicaragua, Ghana and India. The recycling period for the agreed quantity is a maximum of one year. As soon as the target quantity has been reached, Buy Food with Plastic will inform the buyer and issue a certificate of confirmation. The buyer may contact Buy Food with Plastic at any time to ask about current progress.

Donations to expand capacity and increase our collection volume are also welcome. To do so, please contact the organisation via the chat function.
